Aangan Stay keeps what it stores in your browser to a minimum. There are no advertising cookies and nothing that follows you to other websites.

Cookies we set

  • Sign-in (aangan_session): keeps you signed in. It is secure and httpOnly (scripts in your browser cannot read it), is sent only to Aangan Stay, and is removed when you log out.
  • Google sign-in (cookies whose names include next-auth): set only while you sign in with Google, to complete that sign-in safely.
  • Device ID (aangan_did): a random ID for this browser, kept for up to 2 years. It lets us remember how you first found a host (for example through the host's own link), which decides the fee the host pays on your booking. It is not used for advertising and is not shared with anyone.
  • Language (aangan_locale): remembers whether you chose English or Hindi, for up to a year.

Other things stored in your browser

These stay on your device and are not sent to us:

  • A referral code from an invite link, until you sign up.
  • Where you moved the chat button, and your search and filter preferences.

Website analytics, without cookies

We use Umami to count visits, pages viewed, where visitors come from and a few actions such as searches. Umami sets no cookies and stores no personal data. Booking and conversation IDs, and anything in a link other than campaign tags, are removed before a visit is counted, and admin pages are never counted.

When you pay

Payments are handled on Cashfree Payments' secure checkout, which may set its own cookies to process and protect the payment. Those are covered by Cashfree's own policies.

What we don't use

  • No advertising cookies or ad networks.
  • No cross-site tracking tools such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel.
  • No session-recording tools.

Controlling cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the sign-in cookie means you cannot stay signed in; everything else on Aangan Stay keeps working.
