Refund amounts are governed by the Cancellation Policy. This page covers how refunds are processed and what to do if something goes wrong.

Process

  • When you cancel, we show the exact refund first; nothing happens until you confirm.
  • The refund is sent through Cashfree Payments, to the account or card you paid with, within minutes of the cancellation. Your bank or UPI app then shows it within the times in the Cancellation Policy.
  • A refund for a declined or unanswered booking request is sent automatically; you don't need to do anything.
  • Each refund has a reference number, which you can use with your bank.

If the refund hasn't arrived

  • Wait until the end of the typical settlement window before raising a dispute (UPI is fastest, cards slowest).
  • Email support@aanganstay.com with your booking ID, refund reference and a screenshot of your latest bank statement. We will trace it with Cashfree Payments within 2 working days.
  • If the funds are not located within 10 working days from the refund being initiated, we will make you whole through an alternate method (UPI to a verified VPA you nominate) and pursue recovery with the payment partner ourselves.

Chargebacks

Please reach out to us before initiating a chargeback. Chargebacks raised without a documented attempt to resolve directly may be defended by Aangan, which can result in your bank reversing the chargeback. The friendlier path is faster and almost always works.

GST on refunds

The GST you paid is refunded in the same proportion as the rest of your booking. When a booking that already has a tax invoice is refunded, we issue a credit note against that invoice for the amount refunded, as the CGST Act requires. A booking request that the host never accepted has no invoice, so it needs no credit note.
